I just learned some absolutely fascinating news today. Jesus promised us two things. Not just two things but, two things in one very important sentence.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in Me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
# 1. we will have trouble
# 2. He has overcome
All those years ago when history was being made, when you think about Jesus, what comes into your mind first? More often than not people say one of two things. They remember the cross or the fact that He rose from the dead. If it were not for the cross though, He would not have risen from that death on the cross, so ultimately, this is or should be the number one thing that we think of when we think about Jesus.
So if ‘time’ were given a megaphone to share something about the life of Jesus Christ upon this earth, it would be “Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin.”
So rather than remembering that He healed folks of their blindness to the truth, or healed folks of their deafness to the truth or healed folks who were not walking in truth, those who were lame… His suffering on the cross speaks louder to us.
So having said that, and then going back to the verse that He shared, In the world, we will have tribulation, but take heart, don’t sweat it at all because, I have overcome……. How marvelous!
We now know that it is in our suffering times, in our tribulations, our focus in how we handle what comes our way will speak louder to all those who are watching us…. than any sermon or any scripture that we can share. We have four things that we have to do.
A.) WE MUST EMBRACE A HIGHER PURPOSE THAN JUST GETTING BY IN THIS LIFE
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Our life is not to be idle. We are workers for the kingdom of God. We are to labor to even look for the work that we must do. We can’t just sit by and let the work come to us. We must consider Jesus Christ as the great Mediator between God and man, proclaim His salvation, and pray in His name.-Whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name means that we are to bring info to Jesus… We must refer all our fruit to Jesus in our prayers. All those who we come in contact, we are to view as potential fruit. Now keep in mind, we don’t even have to like someone for God to love them. We are workers in a field where God has no preference. So if He doesn’t have a preference, why should we? Our fruit should remain, so we gotta keep on plugging away on our knees and shining our light so that God will get all the glory. After all, it is HIS light that shines thru us. We are just old yucky rags… It is only Him through us that looks any good at all……
We didn’t choose Him, He chose us so that we could be the fruit that brings in more fruit that won’t spoil. If we are down on our knees, pouring out our hearts at His feet about souls…. yeah, that is something that He is going to get excited about because we are getting the job done.
Colossians 3:1 ¶ If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. (KJV)
So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. -The Message
“O I like that version…” straight forward don’t you think?
B) EXPECT DIFFICULTY TO COME
John 15:18-20 ¶ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. (KJV)
If you find the godless world is hating you, remember it got its start hating me. If you lived on the world’s terms, the world would love you as one of its own. But since I picked you to live on God’s terms and no longer on the world’s terms, the world is going to hate you.
When that happens, remember this: Servants don’t get better treatment than their masters. If they beat on me, they will certainly beat on you. If they did what I told them, they will do what you tell them. The Message
Now isn’t that something? The world would actually love us if we belonged to it, rather than ‘Who’ we belong to and this is Yah’shua. He is right too. people don’t even want to have much to do with someone who’s light is shining on them. It frightens them and the sad thing is we know exactly how they feel because we were there one too. Not only once but many times after our conversion. We are not saints. We are called saints but I am in no shape, way or form a saint. No matter how you slice it and dice it, I am still a sinner. I was born into it and until I die from this fleshy body, I will still have sin’s nature in me and that is what is warring with the spirit.
I’d say that this is difficulty. I think the worse thing that can come our way other than persecution is to be challenged in our faith and that can happen when someone so close to us, dies. Especially if they are young and their death could have been prevented. When we look to God to supply all our needs, we expect that when we ask for His help on behalf of someone we love who is seriously ill or in desperate need of His healing touch for instance in the matter of life or death…. we will always choose life. We pray and ask Him to intervene and He say’s ‘NO’ and they die.
That’s the kind of thing that will challenge the faith of a believer. But we have hope in the cross and we must turn back to Him, instead of focusing on our loss because obviously, His ways are not our ways. ( Take the time to read my blog called The Darkest Hour)
C) HOPE IN THE CROSS OF JESUS
1John 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Shortly after Jesus died, 50 days to be exact, seven Sabbaths and the next day…… The Holy Spirit touched down on this earth entering mankind as Jesus had said that He, the Holy Spirit would come. This is the ‘greater’ part in us. He is our teacher, the ‘One’ who would reveal the truth to us, the ‘One’ who would comfort us.
It is easy to be frightened by all the wickedness that surrounds us and is increasing more and more all the time. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the problems we face each day. Evil appears to be very strong but God is bigger that evil ever thought of being because God works with-in the power of Love, Grace and Mercy. Now stop and think about that. His Love, Grace and Mercy…. lives in our heart…. HIs Love, Grace and Mercy rules our life…. So all these false prophets of doom and gloom and just that.. false prophets because ‘greater’ is He that is in us … than he that is in the world.
And finally D) USE THE CIRCUMSTANCE/HARDSHIP FOR HIS GLORY
2 Corinthians 5:9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
So whether we are here in this body or away from this body, our goal is to please Yah‘shua. We are to glorify Him. When we go through these trials and hardships, tribulations and problems that Yah‘shua said will come… we give Him the glory He deserves because this is where He is glorified. How we re-act to our circumstances, is what the world will see and if we hold fast and anchor down in Him, cling to the cross of our salvation and bear all things through Him, who gives us that kind of strength, then He will be glorified loudly. We are not the servant of our trial or hardship, it is our servant or tool. So who are we going to give the glory too? The trial or the hardship that comes our way or are we going to Give Him the glory?
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
We don’t just put our bodies on the altar all on our own, we do so by the mercies of God who has prepared the way in advance showing us that even death can not hold us in the grave…
In this world, we will have trouble, but He has overcome the world and all it’s troubles, all it’s conflicts, all it’s trials and tribulations. He never promised that the cross would not get heavy.
(For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) He will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He sware unto them.
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
When troubles come our way it is no longer a question of ‘why’, but an opportunity to show the world our belief and trust in our God, Our Yahowah.
Everybody is broadcasting a message to the world. Our trials and our tribulations are a megaphone for what is in our heart and what we truly believe.
