LESSON THREE OF ELEVEN : Who is this man called God?

Is God the creator or is He Jesus? Is God the spirit of man or the spirit of God? Is Jesus the spirit of God? Is the spirit of Jesus, God’s spirit? How do we know these answers. Is it by faith? Most would answer yes but how do we get faith?

Every human is given a measure of faith. Every being that is human that has ever lived or ever will live upon this earth has been given, by God, an instilled measure of faith.

An example of a measure of faith: When you walk over to turn on a light to bring light to a dark room, as you flip that switch, you are showing faith that the very act of your finger, moving that switch to on, that the light will indeed come on and lighten the room. This is such a simple example of faith that you may have never recognized your faith before.

When you get up in the morning and you go into the kitchen to open the refrigerator to find food, you are showing a measure of faith in your parents that they have provided food and that food will be there when you open the refrigerator.

The definition of faith:
1 a : allegiance to duty or a person : LOYALTY b (1) : fidelity to one’s promises (2) : sincerity of intentions

2 a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God ((1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust

3 : something that is believed especially with strong conviction;

How do we know that every man was given a measure of faith and that this measure was given to each of us by God? We can find that answer in scripture.

Romans 12:3
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according, as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

You may have been told that healthy self -esteem is important because some of us think too little of ourselves. On the other hand, some of us over estimate ourselves. The very key to an honest and accurate self evaluation is knowing our self worth, is to know our identity in Christ. Apart from Him we aren’t capable of very much by eternal standards; in Him, we are valuable and capable of worthy service. Evaluating our self by the worldly standards of success and achievement can cause us to think too much about our worth in the eyes of others and thus miss our true value in God’s eyes.

We know now where we get a measure of faith. Where can we find our faith and build up on it? Where can we find faith in God?

Romans 10:17
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Faith comes by listening to the message of God, the good news about Christ Jesus. How will we know about Jesus if we never have listened before? How will we know unless someone tells us or if we read about His message. How will our faith and trust be built if we do not start at thievery foundation of His truth?

Let’s say we want to use our computer to write a project. Typewriters are something of the past now- a-days and so we use our computers to write something. Most folks use a Microsoft Word. In order to begin writing, we need to install the Microsoft Word program before we can begin. With out the program installation disc, we can not use the Word program. This disc has on it the proper installation for writing in the Word application. With out it, I suppose we could find some other disc if we don’t like Word, but that too would have to be installed. This is the foundation that we use to begin our project.

So who is God? God is a spirit. In the beginning of the book of Genesis, we see in the very first chapter and in the 1st and 2nd verses: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The image of the Spirit of God hovering over the face of the waters, is similar to a mother bird caring for and protecting her young. God’s spirit was actively involved in the creation of the world. God’s care and protection are still active.

Back to our original question: Is God the creator or is He Jesus? Is God the spirit of man or the spirit of God? Is Jesus the spirit of God? Is the spirit of Jesus, God’s spirit?

The Spirit of God is the spirit of man. This Spirit of God that first entered into the body of Adam was given by God. It was His decision to co-mingle with Adam. When sin entered in the earth by the choice of Adam and Eve, the Spirit of God left them. The Spirit of God has over time visited man by God’s design. It is still by God’s design that His Spirit is given and activated. Jer emiah31:14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

The Spirit of God is in all man kind because we are decedents of the first man and because we are created in the image of God. We bare His image. His image, is Spirit.

It is the job of the Holy Spirit to awaken inside of mankind, the spirit that God placed inside of mankind. So now we have a clear understanding of who God is in the spirit, who Jesus is and who the Holy Spirit is. If not, let me explain it in a different way.

Christ Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation Colossians 1:15-17 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

In adoption you know all the faults and short comings of the child you are preparing to adopt unlike real birth where you accept the child born to you no questions asked. In adoption you have a chance to reject the one you are choosing.

This is very simple actually. The very Spirit of God was sent down in the Spirit of Jesus and now lives upon the earth inside each and every one of us, who call upon His name. His Spirit was upon Adam, but the Spirit of God then left Adam when sin entered into man, by man’s choice to go against the will of God and the one small rule that God gave, not to eat the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden.

Man only had His own spirit. The spirit we are given at birth is the spirit of God, but that spirit has gone rogue because it lives with-in and by it’s own will. But the spirit can now be activated by God’s perfect will and design, because of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah, thine the glory of God… !!

God makes the final decision whom He will call into His Kingdom. This is backed up by scripture. We all will have the opportunity to be introduced to Christ, but it is still His decision if He opens the door to those who call upon His name.

The key to getting the door open , is to knock, to call upon the name of Jesus, ask for forgiveness and repent of our sin. When we do this, God will hear our cry and open the door. We can be confident that the Holy Spirit will present this opportunity to all that God has desired, but it is still God’s decision as to whom will enter into His Kingdom. But know this… It is God’s desire that none perish.

Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 7:8
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

2 Peter 3:9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Jesus tells us to persist in pursuing God. People often give up after a few half hearted efforts. and conclude that God can not be found. But knowing God, takes faith, focus and follow through, and Jesus assures us that we will be rewarded.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

It’s not just about getting saved from this awful world, but how we can get through it with God who created it. God wants and desires to have a relationship with each and every one of us. He knows who really wants to have a relationship with Him, by how we seek Him and His will in our life. God sees right through us. He knows those who really seek Him.

Hebrews 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

When God sent His Spirit into the womb of Mary, His Spirit was born upon the earth and placed inside a human body, the body of Jesus. So now, we see where God is Jesus in man form. When Jesus died and ascended to heaven, He left behind His spirit to live in those who call upon the name of Christ Jesus. Jesus became the perfect lamb of God. The One sacrifice for all.

It is up to us to keep the spirit of God activated once His Spirit begins to live inside of us. We do this by actively seeking His will and to sin no more. We must willingly make a conscience decision to not commit a sin. When we stay in the Word of God daily, it gets easier and easier not to sin. The more we get to know about God and His Son Jesus, the less we want to sin because we learn how much it hurts Him. This also builds our faith.

God’s spirit has always been with man kind ever since God created Adam and blew His Spirit into the dust which became the body of Adam.

Jeremiah 29:13
And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

If we really want to find God, we will find Him, when we search for Him, with all of our heart. It is then that we can begin to fellowship with Him and to build on a relationship with Him. He doesn’t want a robot. He wants a true and willing heart.

Proverbs 3:19-26 The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. ¶ My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

This passage ( Proverbs) is really one to put to memory because it is a promise on which we can depend.
