The Power of Prayer

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Matthew 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

NOTE: Pray “conversationally.”

Elohim is a person — namely, our Father. Prayer is a deeply personal, intimate CONVERSATION with our Father — not some *magical incantation* or religious babbling.

Matthew 5:44-45 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Pray boldly!

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

When to pray?

Psalm 55:16 ¶ As for me, I will call upon Elohim; and the LORD shall save me. Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

Matthew 6:9-13 ¶ After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

In “the Model Prayer,” Yahushua taught us to…

Pray to the Father.

Acknowledge Elohim’s holiness.

Seek Elohim’s kingdom and Elohim’s will.

Request Elohim’s daily provision.

Confess our sins, and seek forgiveness.

Request strength to resist evil and temptation.

Offer praises unto Elohim.

Matthew 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Matthew 24:20-21 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Luke 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Luke 22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

Acts 8:22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray Elohim, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

PRAYING BEFORE ENTERING WAR: 1st Kings 8:4345 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name. If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name: Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

Psalm 122:6 ¶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

1st Timothy 2:1-2 ¶ I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Pray for those who govern our nation and the world, that we may live in peace and holiness.

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of Elohim, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

One of my personal favorites: Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto Elohim. And the peace of Elohim, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Messiah Yahushua.

Yahushua tells us in His Word that we should not get tired of asking Him for the things that we want from Him. But is that what He really meant? And where do we get the idea that is what He wants?

Luke 18:1-8 ¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not Elohim, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not Elohim, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not Elohim avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Yahushua did not say, “men always should ask the same thing over and over of Elohim.” In fact, Matthew 6:7-8 says: But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

I think that the widow kept coming to the judge and wore him down till He gave in.

1st Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. He does hear us, the first time, He just bears long with us waiting for us to trust Him, to believe that He will do what He has promised to do.

Sometimes it takes time for Elohim to send the answer to our prayers:

Then he [the angel] said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your Elohim, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. Daniel 10:12-13

Sometimes there is not much time at all between seed- time and harvest. Just because we do not immediately see the answer, does not mean that the Yahushua has not heard or answered our prayers. Today, we can receive answers just like the people in the Bible. We simply must know the Bible well enough to know His will and His word, and we must ask wholeheartedly in faith, because without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to Elohim must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.

If you want to read a BEAUTIFUL prayer, read The Lords Prayer. It is not what you might be thinking. It is found in John chapter 17. The whole chapter where He prays for Himself, His disciples and for you and I.
