“The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the power of GOD was moving over the water”.
We find our strength in the partnership of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a living person dwelling with in us whose goal is to help us, lead and guide us to everlasting life. We are daily being made into His image and His image is Spirit. It is the responsibility of the Holy Spirit to bring us into the position where we become a mirror image of the heart of Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is endowed with understanding.
The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you are thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that He not only knows what He is thinking, but he lets us in on His deep secrets. He has given us His spirit so that we might know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.
Also known as the Spirit of Truth, He takes us by the hand and guides us into all truth. He will not speak of Himself. He does not even try to draw attention to Himself because He is sent to help us make sense of the word of God and what is about to happen. He is instructed by God to teach us. He honors God in every thing that He speaks or reveals to us.
The Holy Spirit has a will. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and the variety is wonderful: Wise counsel, clear understanding, simple trust, healing the sick, miraculous acts, proclamation, distinguishing between spirits, tongues & interpretation of tongues. All these gifts have a common origin, but are handed out one by one by the One Spirit of God. He decides who gets what, and when. The same Spirit operates in all these things distributing these gifts just as He wishes.
The Holy Spirit loves. Almost at the end of the letter that Paul wrote in the book of Romans, Paul requested prayer from those he sent the letter too. This is part of what he said: Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ‘s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me; He mentioned the love of the Spirit. We also know that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Therefore, the fruit is the attribute of the Holy Spirit that He imparts towards us.
People can test the Holy Spirit, lie to Him and grieve Him too.
Acts 5:9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
Acts 5:3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Ephsians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
But make no mistake about it. If you do any of these to the Ruach Hakodesh, you have tested, lied and grieved God. The Holy Spirit is identified with God. When we conspire against the Spirit, we have conspired against God. A lie is still a lie even if we hold back the truth. We are not pulling any tricks by holding back truth. We certainly do not want to grieve God. We do not want to break His heart. His Holy Spirit, moving and breathing in us, is the most intimate part of our life, making us fit for Himself. We must not take such a gift for granted. We need to make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, and profane talk. Being gentle with one another, sensitive towards one another and forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave us.
The Holy Spirit speaks. The Spirit makes it clear that as time goes on, some are going to give up on the faith and chase after demonic illusions put forth by professional liars. These liars have lied so well and for so long that they have lost their capacity for truth. I believe that this is actually a prophecy of the Holy Spirit spoken in 1 Timothy 4:1. The end times actually began the day that Yahushua was hung on the tree. How do we know this? I quote Timothy: “Now the Sprit expressly says that in the last times some of the faithful will turn their minds to following deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, of liars, who have seared their own consciences in hypocrisy, by forbidding to marry, keeping away from food, which God created for the faithful, and for those who know the truth, to receive with thanksgiving.”
The conscience is a component of human nature and it can be ruined. Jesus said, ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ Paul said the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. Paul also taught that he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. If we have no awareness of what we are doing is right or wrong, then our conscience has been seared, burned up, scorched.
God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we do not know how or what to pray, it does not matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves and keeps us present before God. That is why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Our mind must be a willing mind, setting our mind on things above, not on things on the earth. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. God has put it into our hearts to fulfill His purpose and to be on one mind, that of Christ Jesus. We are not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind, that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
It is when we take our everyday, ordinary life—our sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering that we begin to embrace what the Holy Spirit does for us. It is He who helps us stay in alignment and always presenting ourselves as a living sacrifice. We cannot become so well adjusted to our culture that we fit into it without even thinking. Instead, we need to fix our focus and our attention on. Christ. We easily recognize what the Holy Spirit wants from us, and we can quickly respond to attending to that. Unlike the culture around us, that always drags us down to its level of immaturity, God, through the power of the Holy Spirit brings the best out of us, developing well-formed maturity in us. It is all in preparation to live in unity with others who are like-minded, showing the world the likeness of Christ Jesus in us, the hope of glory.
The Holy Spirit teaches. Luke 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say. When we stay connected, it does not matter where we go or whom we talk to, the Holy Spirit will fill out heart and out of our heart, the Spirit will speak. Even in the future times of tribulation when we might be dragged into their meeting places, or into police courts and before judges, we do not and will not have to worry don’t about defending ourselves—what we will say or how we will say it. The right words will be there. The Holy Spirit will give us the right words when the time comes.
The Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Romans 8:26 ¶ Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
I have already touched on this a bit, but there are times when we get trapped or snared by the enemy. During these times, it is such a blessing to know that we can fully trust that we have that third assurance of the entity of God in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are yet un-redeemed, still living in this universe.
He prays in the proper manner our hearts deepest yearnings even when consciously we may not know how. One day everything will be restored into, it’s rightful place. Sometimes it is frustrating to live in this world with all the hatefulness that we see, and witness even with-in the body of Christ by those who claim they live. I certainly have my doubts sometimes, but I am careful to remember that God is not finished yet. Those who are driven by the natural sometimes give me pause but it is not my day to judge. It is my day to know the Judge, He who was and is to come. Holy, Holy, Holy is the LORD God Almighty.
In the mean time, we have the Third Person of the triune God, the same power with-in us is the very same power that moved upon the waters of the deep at the beginning of life as we know it.
