I have been thinking about something lately and I am just going to throw it out there as a bone for anyone who wants to chew on it. I have not been known to even do this before, but here it is:
For as long as I can remember, there has been the talk that the Myans knew something that we didn’t. According to the Mayan calendar and a teaching behind it is that December 21, 2012 is an appointed set time, the last day of our life as we know it and that the world will end on this given date.
I completely believe it to be rubbish. Why? Because I believe the Bible and what it says. Nevertheless, many people, especially young people are falling into this belief and I am worried only for one reason.
What concerns me is that so many people might look to Jesus early on before that set and given date, considering to give their heart to Jesus in hopes of survival of the fate of death. Once that date comes and nothing happens they will walk away from Him because they have once again fallen into a trap of mis-informed information.
First, everyone is going to die eventually. It is appointed unto every man that they should die, just as if it is appointed that the moon shine at night and the sun by day.
It is hard to face death. However, unless someone has placed a tag on your toe, you are still alive. Dealing with death is one of the hardest things humanity can face. I have been on both ends of the spectrum having personally lost a brother and a grandchild as well as my parents. I have worked with the elderly and held many a hand while they passed beyond the veil of life.
The end day will come but it will only come when God has completed His plan. He does not intend for people to be scared into His arms. He sent His Son Jesus into the world, not to condemn the world but that through Him the world might be saved. He is not here to condem anyone but He does want us all to repent and receive forgiveness of our sin.
Saved from what? The gospel is not about salvation. The Apostle Luke recorded the words that Jesus said unto His Apostles ‘after’ He had risen from the grave.
“These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.”
Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them,
“Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from sin. One who commits sin is one who opposes the will of God for their life. The Bible teaches that people that do not believe in Jesus are condemned already, simply because they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
What is remission? Remission is being delivered from sin. However, there is only One who can give this pardon and deliver anyone from death into life everlasting. His name is Yahushua, more commonly known as Jesus Christ. Mohammad does not promise this nor does any stone god or statue that sits on a shelf.
What is sin? Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. ~ 1st John 3:4
Even many Christians do not realize that sin is a violation against the Torah… God’s Law… His teachings. Where there is no law, there is no violation.
Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
That is exactly why we need the Law of God. If you wanna throw out the law then ya gotta throw out love too.
If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: ~ James 2:8
The law of love and the law of the spirit or grace do not negate the law of God.
God, (Yahwey is His name, the eternal God of Israel) gave His Law unto Moses. His teachings (The Law) was given to help people understand their need to learn to live in an environment so that people would understand how to commune and cohabitate with each other in a peaceful manner. His Law is also a pattern of Kingdom Living.
HOWEVER: Before Jesus came, we were all bound to the law of sin and death. What is the law of sin and death? The law of sin and death states that the soul that sins shall die. The Law of sin and death clearly refers to the soul and not the spirit. If one willingly continues to live in sin, they will not receive the promise of being raised up at the first resurrection.
Sin is defined in the Bible in clear and simple terms. The penalty of sin against the law of God is death. You have probably heard it said this way. The wages of sin is death.
In the New Testament in 1 John 3:4 it is written:
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
I have often wondered how many folks actually look at that scripture and asked the question, “What law? I thought it was done away with.”
Who ever commits sin is not yielding to the law that God promised to put (His laws, plural ~ Hebrews 8:10) in the mind and write them into the heart of man. Everyone who commits a sin is doing a lawless deed. Sin is lawlessness.
The Apostle Paul wrote the following words: For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: ~ Romans 2:14
Gentiles, are folks who by defination, did not have the Torah. Even though they do not have the Torah, they do naturally what the Torah required because their lives show the conduct of one who had the Torah. Why? Because the Torah was being written upon their hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is what is discribed in the New Covenant.
People who do not have the law are a law unto themslevs. They live however they please even though they often know that what they are doing is not pleasing unto a Holy God.
What law is being written in the heart? The very same law of God that He gave unto Moses to teach to the Hebrew nation so that they in turn would teach it to the nations. They did not do as God wanted them to do so He made a covenant that He would do it Himself. He uses the Holy Spirit to do this.
How? He does this through the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus who has made us free from the law of sin and death. Anyone who accepts Yahushua into their heart , repents and turns from sin and seeks the heart of God, will be set free from the law that requires death for transgression against the law (Missing the mark). Those who accept and believe in the Son of God will receive remission of sin and be raised from death to ever lasting life on the day of the resurrection.
One thing that must not escape your notice is that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. Whether it is a thousand years or one day or December 21st, God has not taken this long just for fun and games. He is not slack concerning His promises. He has put off the return of His Son because He is patient with all humankind. God doesn’t want any to be destroyed. His desire is that all to come to repentance. Personally, I would rather have one day in His court than one single day with out Him in my life.
He that believes on the Son has everlasting life : and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him. Nevertheless, he that comes to God must come believing that God is who He claims to be and that He will reward those who diligently seek Him.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ~ Romans 6:23
If you are 100% sure that you want to get to know God, go look and read the Ten Commandments. Start there. You would not want to go purchase a car with out reading the contract would you?
If you think that you can live a life by following all those commandments, then knock on the door to the heart of Jesus. Call out to Him.
BUT KNOW THIS:
The law nor the commandments cannot save you and they never could. Only Jesus can save you from the law of sin and death. If you break any one of those commandments, with out Jesus on your side, you will face the wrath of God that is sure to come upon this earth in one swell of His justice one after the other according to the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation as well as many writings in the prophecies.
Call out to Jesus. If you do not believe in Jesus, ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Ask Him to heal your unbelief. Turn from sin. Purchase a Bible and begin reading it yourself. If the Lord hears your hearts cry, it is up to Him to make the final decision if He will come and live in your heart. Once Jesus decides to send His Spirit to come and live in your heart, you will know it. Your life will never be the same again.
Only God knows that when you are seeking for Him if you are seeking with a willing heart. Nevertheless, if you seek Him with all of your heart, you will find Him. He is never that far away that He cannot hear your earnest cries.
Once He sends His Spirit to guide you, you will look at life in a complete and different way. Your heart will begin to change and you will not want to commit sin because you know it would hurt His feelings.
The Spirit will prompt you to turn away from sin increasingly every day. You will not change all at once so do not expect a great big change, although I have heard testimonies that speak of a supernatural change. I am only suggesting this because I wouldn’t want you to be dissapointed if your were expecting a great big change all at once. Jesus does it all by the power of His Spirit with-in you. You will hold in your heart the promise of the gift of salvation and your life will never be the same again. He bids you to come as you are.
You do not have to give up anything that your heart desires right now. However, God will place His desire in your heart and then He will fulfill the desire of your heart. It is just that simple. His cross is not easily carried, but once you become equally yoked with Him, His burden is light and you will walk side by side with Him on a daily basis and He will help you plow through the destiny called life and makes this promise regarding your death.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints. ~ Psalm 116:15
That moment is so precious to Him; do you really think that He would not meet you there? He will be right there with you because once He enters your life, He promises to never leave. He will walk with you all the days of your life and you will dwell in the house of the Lord.
The next thing to do would be to begin a prayer life. Ask God to show you a group of like-minded believers that study the Bible. Never believe anything that anyone teaches you… not even me. Let the Spirit guide you and be patient with the Spirit. He will never lead you astray. Seek His freedom and deliverance. It is fresh and His mercy is new every single day. Always, ALWAYS go back to your Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the truth. Even if it seems right, we all have to remember that the devil twisted the very words of God and thus began the fall of man.
Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.”
He is waiting!
The same God who destroyed the world in Noah’s day and sent fiery brimstone upon Sodom and Gomorrah, also sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins. (John 3:16)
However, one day His extended mercy will run out because at some point His mercy and grace will no longer have any redeeming effect. At this point, God will have to deal with the defiant rebellion of mankind who has chosen to ignore the warning signs of the domino effect of how sin destroys and infects so many lives. God alone knows who loves Him and has committed their lives to Him.
What have you got to loose?
If you want to know who Jesus is and the reason He came, start searching.
Get engaged…. And remember there are only two mistakes that man can make along his path in life. Not believing in the Son of God and not following Him all the way.
