Only God knows what is in the heart of the sea, likewise the heart of man. The earth along the shoreline is safe as long as the seas remain in place. God has compassed the waters by His design. Just like the ocean, man has been given boundaries and perimeters in which to walk out his or her life. Likewise, as part of God’s design, the sea too has laws and limits, which commands its behavior.
Only God knows the path that the waters of the deep take and likewise the steps of man. There is a created inner code, which governs how both will function. The ocean and its proud waves are completely in His control. The LORD establishes the steps of a man, when he or she delights in the way that God has designed. God told the oceans that they could only go so far and likewise, God will only allow man to go so far before He intervenes.
We are not privy to all the council or the hidden secrets of God, but He is privy to all of man’s. God knows our comings and our goings, just as He knows the waves of the sea and how high they will climb when the waves hit the shoreline. Just like the amazing springs and torrents hidden deep below the ocean, God knows what we are thinking and what we think we are hiding. No one can hide his or her thoughts from Him. Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?
It is relatively easy for us to ignore the condition of the sea since it seems so vast and distant. It seems the same way for man to ignore the call of God because He too, appears so vast and distant. The apostle Peter knew what it was like to be so close and yet so far away from the Lord. Peter said, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!” Yet, the Lord called upon Peter in that very sinful condition.
Nevertheless, God is as close to us as a whisper and yet, the depth of the ocean is a realm of mystery and wonder.
The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea than the waves of the mighty waves of the sea. Still we find it so hard to hear His still small voice.
Has He called you? What if He never calls you again? Are you ready to cross that bridge?
Likewise, what do you think would happen to this earth, if the raging waters in the ocean declared that they did not need the hand or the voice of God to keep it from wandering astray?
Something to ponder…
