Recently I heard a study that spoke of the mind being a battlefield. This study taught that the mind of Christians is where satan goes into battle, in our minds. I believe that, but I also know that the folks who have not accepted Christ Jesus as their savior, they too are in a battle for their very lives and so their minds are tortured even more so than ours, as Christians.
You might not agree, but as Christians, when we follow the plan and read our bible and take up our cross daily, we fill our minds with the very word of God, and our minds are filled with Gods laid out plan for His creatures, His chosen. Now, all mankind belongs to God and all things created. If not, why would all man kind meet Him on judgment day, so therefore all man kind belong to Him and are subject to God. On judgment day, all will go before the Throne and He will separate the sheep from the goats. God has that authority because He created all things. 1 Corinthians 10:26 For The earth is The Lords, and all it’s fullness. We have weapons on which we can defend our selves against the evil that battles in our mind. Non believers do not. Their minds are under a siege of lies and deceit.
‘And as for you, O My flock, thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I shall judge between sheep and sheep, between rams and goats.
All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
What do we choose? The mind of a sheep or the mind of a goat?
As Christians, we hear many lessons on the mind and attitude of the sheep and there are a few stories in the Holy Scriptures about the sheep. So how about the goat? When you read the following about the goat, think of our life before we became a sheep and notice how non Christians really do have the traits of a goat.
About the goat
Day dreaming all afternoon sounds heavenly to the Goat. Goats are generally most comfortable in their own minds. Goats tend not to be very well-organized. In fact, goats tend not to be very materialistic in general, finding plenty of riches in their own imagination. Their own minds.
Perhaps it’s that artistic temperament that so often causes goats to feel insecure, but the result is that these high-strung creatures need to feel loved and admired lest they start worrying incessantly. Goats need plenty of love, support and open reassurance from their owners. If a relationship between owner and goat is marked by conflict, the goat will often pull away — either physically or simply by retreating into the safe haven of its imagination.
Appearances are also important to the goat, which may explain why these animals can spend hours primping and posing. Once they can be certain that their owners care about them, they often return to its daydreams, life , like a field of daisies.
Goats may have been the first hoofed animal that was tamed, according to the New Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia by Grolier.
In the Biblical town of Jericho, people kept tame goats. People still raise goats in many different places through out the world. Goats are easily trained. Like cows, they are kept for their milk, hide and meat. The earliest goats were animals of steep hills in Asia and migrated to North Africa and then to Southern Europe. From these wild ancestors domestic goats have inherited two unusual traits. They are very sure footed and they will eat anything.
They will eat bitter desert plants, nibble on wood, rope, cotton cloth, and cigarettes. When climbing, a wild goat can cling to the tiniest ledges of a cliff that is almost straight up and down. Tame goats will often climb high walls or play on a barn roof because they have a good sense of balance. Their leathery hooves can grip a surface.
Goats are so closely related to sheep that some are hard to tell apart from sheep, but there are differences. The male or billy goat has a beard and a strong odor. The sheep has neither. Goats are far more lively and curious than sheep and make interesting pets.
Goats were often used as a sin offering throughout the time of Moses, Isaac, Jacob and others. The skin of a goat was dyed and used as offerings. The hair of goats was woven into eleven curtains that was used as the tent to cover the tabernacle. So goats, did have their use in Biblical times.
Now when you compare a sheep to a goat, aren’t you glad that you are a sheep?
A goat is lazy, self centered, always looking for attention and wanting love and when it has it’s fill, goes back to it’s lazy way. They are insecure, high strung, easily trained, easily tamed, easy to satisfy, self assured, will eat anything and stink. They can cling to ledges with out a care in the world because they are sure footed.
So again I ask, Do we have the mind of a sheep or the mind of a goat?
Are we comfortable in our own skins? We know that if we do not believe in Jesus, we are condemned. John 3:18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. If we are condemned, we are like the snake, which is so uncomfortable in it’s own skin that it sheds it’s skin at least once a year. But it is still a snake.
We know that when we accept the gift of life, our minds are transformed. No longer are we a goat as a sacrifice unto God, but by the blood of Jesus, we are now a living sacrifice unto God.
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
There is a blessing of returning to our creator and giving back our lives unto Him.
AND WHEN all these things have come upon you, the blessings and the curses which I have set before you, and you shall call them to mind among all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you, And shall return to the Lord your God and obey His voice according to all that I command you today, you and your children, with all your [mind and] heart and with all your being,
The Lord will restore our fortunes and have compassion upon us and will gather us again from all the nations where He has scattered us. He knows exactly which valley His sheep are wondering in.
We will ultimately be brought back to God, The Word of God says it shall come to pass. God, will cut away the thick calluses on our heart and our children’s hearts, freeing us to love God, with our whole heart and soul and live, really live. But only if we listen obediently to God, and keep the commandments and regulations written in His Book.
Nothing halfhearted here; we must return to God, totally, heart and soul, holding nothing back.
We can not willfully go off to serve and worship other gods. We must keep our focus on God and not of things which if we are not mind full… (full of God in our minds) other things can become idols in our lives and take our focus away from His Kingdom to come and His purpose in our lives. We must… keep our minds full… of His Word.
The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. “ As a partridge that broods but does not hatch, So is he who gets riches, but not by right; It will leave him in the midst of his days, And at his end he will be a fool.”
Like a bird that hatches eggs she has not laid, so are those who get their wealth by unjust means. Sooner or later they will lose their riches and, at the end of their lives, will become poor old fools. We must find our own footprint in the sand on our path that leads to Him. We can not find it in the footprints of anyone other than our Lord.
Jeremiah writes in 17:3, that “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked. Who can know it?”
Christ said that out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. With these two verses we see the importance of the heart being protected. It can only be protected by the righteousness of Jesus Christ. We are called to put on righteousness and be righteous, but our righteousness is to be wrought in the righteousness of Christ, or it is no righteousness at all (Rom 3:10) As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one. May God clothe you this day with the only pure righteousness there is, that of His Son Jesus Christ, that we will be acceptable and able to stand in the sight of God.
Truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous men [men who were upright and in right standing with God yearned to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
This amazes me because the many prophets and disciples saw Him and walked and talked with Him and yearned to see the last days and we are in the last days and yearn to see Him in all His Glory. so that we can walk and talk with Him. Yet we can and some do not have the faith that we indeed can…
Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?
God made the earth by His Power, God established the world , with His Wisdom God expanded the heavens and all that is above us, with His Understanding.
We just have to seek the Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto us who seek. We seek with our mind and we can expect that we will find Him when we seek Him with all our heart.
Choose life so that you and your children will live. Love God, listening obediently to him, firmly embracing him. Oh yes, He is life itself, a long
Yes, our great uncle’s many times removed were given a promise by our God because they chose to live His way, not their own way. They found their riches buried in the treasures of heaven. They listened and obeyed Him and His commands and held on so tight to God that their minds could not be moved to any other direction. As time marches on, (By the way, time marches on and was only changed for one man and that is Jesus Christ. That is why we live the After Christ time) We in this world have all kinds of luxuries and we feel content. I think of the television. We are no longer content to get up (rise up) and move the channel. We lazily sit back in a reclined position and simply push a button. We are laid back and laid out awaiting to have our minds filled with the knowledge of the world and all it’s many offerings. We need to rise up and move away from the vision that tells a vision of lies and deceptiveness and seek God’s vision.
“Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail, Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war?
Job 38:4-5 “ Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
These questions were questions that God asked of Job.
1 Chronicles 22:7
And David said to Solomon: “My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the LORD my God.
Have we built our house with our mind. Have we cleansed our mind field with His words that have so much dynamic might? How do we suppose that it was in David’s mind to build a house to the name of God?
2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. Did you notice that God gave us power first and then love and then a sound mind in this scripture?
This is how David had it in his mind. He had the mind of God because David lived a righteous life before God. He lived an obedient life. Now, Since we have been covered by the Blood of Jesus Christ, we have a sound mind, through the Spirit of Truth which was given to us when we first received God’s blessing through the atonement.
To add to this study, sheep need a shepherd and goats do not because goats are rogue, going the way that they choose, traveling over steep valleys and going into deep crevices with out any fear.
Some of my favorite passages in scripture is where God and Jesus speak of us as sheep. Remember I shared with you that God spoke in the Old Testament and Jesus speaks in the New.
God , regarding sheep, spoke through prophets. Jeremiah and Ezekiel are both prophets that he used to talk about His sheep. The shepherds that God is talking about are what people like Pastor Guy calls himself a co-shepard. (They are pastors) Isaiah was a prophet too, but I only used one of his verses here in this that I have sent to you. I like these two passages because God tells what he is going to do to the folks who have led his sheep astray and in Jesus, , what God says is told again by Jesus and then He even goes farther, He lays down His life for His sheep where the wolf (satan) doesn’t.
WOE TO the shepherds (the civil leaders) who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasturing! says the Lord.
My people have been lost sheep; their shepherds have led them astray [to favorite places of idolatry] on mountains [that seduce]. They have gone from [one sin to another] mountain to hill; they have forgotten their [own] resting-place.
Ezekiel 34 (Amplified Bible)
ALL OF Ezekiel 34
He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matthew 18:12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray and gets lost, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go in search of the one that is lost?
Matthew 25: 32-33 All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats; A) And He will cause the sheep to stand at His right hand, but the goats at His left.
John 10: 1-18
Life settled on the soil that God promised to give your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
