The wisdom of the prudent is to understand the way of Yah. But the folly of fools is deceit. (They are deceived in their deceit)
Prior to 2005, (When I was filled with the Spirit of the Living God) I used to ponder certain scriptures off and on. Frankly when I read them, they puzzled me and left me wondering what they meant.
Here is one of those scriptures found in Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Well now I know that ‘him’ should be capitalized because Him is the Creator of the universe. How do I know that? Because He is the only One Who can destroy both the soul and the body. But that isn’t the point that Matthew is making.
To put this verse in its proper perspective, one must read the whole of the context where this scripture is found. Let’s look at that. I am going to use the New American Standard Bible as a reference.
Matthew 10:16-23 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the courts and scourge you in their synagogues; and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they hand you over, do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. For it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved. “But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes.
The disciples no doubt had a hard road ahead of them but they needed to know that what they had been called to wasn’t going to be an easy life. We, like them know this is true even for ourselves. Yahushua (Who most refer to as Jesus) was preparing the disciples for that hard life. He instructed them almost on a daily basis so that they would not be surprised when humanity would pick on them or challenge them because of what they believed.
They also know like we do that man has a common enemy who is the devil and he is out to steal the identity of God and those who believe in Him. He is out to kill and destroy as many as he can before Yahushua returns. The disciples knew and we know as well that the devil uses man to accomplish his agenda.
Some of the readers of this article may be wondering; what is it that Yahushua said to His disciples, ‘what does it have to do with us’ here in this age? Well if you are a reader of the Bible, either you read it because it is a great book or because you might see yourself as a disciple and rightly so.
What pertained to the disciples in their day would obviously still have bearing in the lives of the disciples of Yahushua now. This is why we can identify with both the lives of the disciples and what it is that Yahushua taught them. I have often said, “The Bible is written to those who pick it up and read it.”
In verses 16-23, Yahushua was sending the disciples out with a message of the gospel, really no different than what the God of Israel told the children who He brought out of Egypt and what Yahwey has taught since the beginning of time. If one wants to live in the Kingdom of God, one must repent, turn away from sin (See 1st John 3:4 for a description of what sin is) and begin to walk upright seeking His Kingdom and His commanded way of living righteously. Once we begin to do this, everything else really does begin to fall into place.
Anyway, He said that He was sending them (His sheep) out among the wolves and that they must be as wise as a serpent (The artful and malicious enemy of God) yet as harmless as a dove. He told them to be on guard because man (Humanity, those without God in their lives and ruled by the enemy) would turn them over to ‘the courts’. In their day the courts were the Sanhedrin.
The Sanhedrin was an assembly of twenty to twenty-three men appointed in every city in the biblical land where the disciples lived and would take their message. Basically these men were the ancient Jewish court system. In our day it really wouldn’t be too different. With the hate crime agenda, we can see this kind of thing gaining more and more ground every day, aimed at those who are believers of some sort. If we continue holding fast in our belief and do not apostatize from our faith, we may very well find ourselves in the same boat.
Yahushua told them they would be arrested and not to say anything other than what the Spirit would speak through them and not to be anxious about what might happen. I think I would be inclined to do the same thing if I were arrested because of my faith. But you can bet your last dollar (If you are a betting person) that I would be praying the whole time.
Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Yahushua also told them that because of their belief and the message that they carried that their own families would turn on them (I can attest to this myself) and they would be hated because of Him and that if they endured to the end (Their own life) that they would be saved. Yahushua wasn’t advocating family strife; He just knew that there would be. His purpose is never to create a contentiousness environment but to end it. He just knows that there may be tension in the members of the family who place their trust in God.
Verse 23 may seem a bit odd: “But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes.
The only thing I can gain from this is that the main stay of the message is still going strong in the entire world, even still in Israel because many Jews still do not believe that Yahushua is their Messiah. He hasn’t yet returned because if He had, we would not be living in a world of chaos such as it is right now. Ergo, the message is still going through the cities of Israel.
Also I am just going to say too that of you are a ‘true’ child of the God of Israel, then you are Israel (Adopted sons graft into the family of God) and whatever city you live in now is still adhering to the very same message. “REPENT for the Day of the Lord is at hand. “
Moving on: Matthew 10:24-31
“A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household! “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops. Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.
A disciple has an agenda just as the devil has an agenda. Yahushua begins to explain to His disciples the meaning of discipleship. He is the One in charge. Everything that He says is the end of everything that will ever be spoken. They were not to think more highly of themselves than they do of the Creator. He always pointed the disciples to God and never to Himself. If you think otherwise, you might be reading the wrong Bible. He told us to ‘pray to the Father’ asking in His name.
In Romans 10:4 Paul said ‘For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.’
This is because Yahushua is the Messiah Whom the teachings in the Law’s righteousness comes. Of course Yahushua is the end of the law because we can find no other way to live righteously without the law to abide by and the Spirit of Messiah to teach us how to live in a communal environment, but it is only to those who believe in this truth. Everyone thinks that they can just live on the blood of Yahushua with-out having to be obedient to His Father’s will. This is why there is so much turmoil on the earth. However, I can guarantee you that there is NEVER going to be any other way because God is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. He will never go back on His own word, if He did, He would be a liar and He is not a man that He should lie. It is just that simple.
Now here is an interesting piece of information that the Holy Spirit has ordained to be right where it is written: ‘If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!’
This name Ba’al-Zibbul is usually seen in English manuscripts as Beelzebub; a derogatory name for our adversary the devil. In Hebrew this name (Ba’al-Zibbul) means ‘lord of a fly’ or ‘the prince of the devils’. This is because back in the day, Ba’al-Zibbal was the idol of the Acronites, which we call the god of flies. I kinda like this because it tells me that when all is said and done, the enemies’ measure and status in the eyes of Yahushua was that he was no more than ‘the lord of dung’. SMILE
So in other words, Yahushua was saying that if they called the head of the enemy ‘dung’ then how much more would they call those who are in his house. It is a similitude Yahushua was pointing out letting the disciples know that He was their Master of those who would be harmless as doves being sent out into where the master of the enemy would have his people too. It is enough for the disciple that he needs to know that he be as his Master, no different than the wolves they were being sent out to would also have their master.
However, Yahushua tells them not to fear them even though they may have the power to kill their body; they would NEVER have the power to destroy the soul. WHY? Because the soul is the breath of God. He gives breath and only He can take away the breath of the body. This is why we are forewarned that when we die, our breath is taken back unto Him and our body lies in the grave, awaiting its resurrection.
It is ‘Him’, The God of all Creation Who we need be concerned with and not the enemy. We need to be more focused on living our lives for ‘Him’ rather than the enemy who is manipulating our government, our education system, our financial system and all the other systems of ‘this world’.
This is not the kingdom of God. The world that we live in was created by Him but Adam AND Eve, gave away their dominion to the enemy in the garden. Now because of their dis-obedience to the will of God, every human born after them has been born with the natural seed, which is sin nature. This is why parenting is so difficult from the time a child begins to crawl. Once a child can get around on its own, it is deceived in thinking that it no longer needs its parent.
The child begins to think for itself, which is most often in opposition to a parent’s rule of discipline. Ergo, we all have to learn this because we too have gone away from our parent’s rule and discipline.
God is the Father of all creation. We as His kids have gone astray thinking that we are a god unto ourselves. However, He loves us so much that He is willing to allow us to think this right up to the point of our own destruction and this is when He will step in and say. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
This is what Yahushua is talking about a few chapters later when Matthew recorded what Yahushua had said: ‘And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.’ ~ Matthew 24:2
Obviously the disciple named Mark was in the same audience that day because he wrote something similar: ‘And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom He hath chosen, He hath shortened the days.’ ~ Mark 13:20
So now we all know that we as disciples of the Living God are ultimately facing the same thing as the disciples were in their day. As time has progressed, we see that evil is gaining more and more power and is becoming a very ugly beast, on the verge of becoming out of control and has beginning to terrorize all the nations. We are seeing nation rising against nation and we are hearing rumors of wars. (Notice these words are singular as compared to rumors of wars, which is plural.) Just remember to keep focused in your mind that this isn’t the end yet.
All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:8) We are reminded very strongly by Paul not to be deceived because ‘first’ there will come a falling away. We are certainly seeing that. People are now believing that what is good is bad and what is bad is now considered good. We are also seeing people fall away from their faith because they are simply worn out waiting for the return of Yahushua. But we also must see that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (Vs. 9) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Everything has its proper order and we are not left in the dark because we are the children of light. Those (Who know that they are ‘not’ a law unto themselves) who pick up the Bible and read it, studying it to show themselves approved; are not alarmed about anything because those who study and are obedient, who are filled with the Spirit of Yahwey, The Supreme Divinity; know what is and has always been coming.
We are among those who are waiting for the Return of The King! All this other jazz (No disrespect intended) that we have been told about is certainly coming but this is not our focus. We are waiting to hail Him, King of all kings!
Proverbs 2:21-22 For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it. But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.
The wisdom of the prudent is to understand God’s way. But the folly of fools is deceit. (They are deceived in their deceit)
