Lights in the Firmament of the Heaven

In 1948 Israel became a nation.  That following year there was a blood moon. The war of independence ended a month before the first of the 1949 eclipses that occurred that year.  The next time a blood moon occurred, there were actually two that occurred in 1967 after the Jewish nation regained Jerusalem during the six day war and then again in 1968 there were two more. Were they even visible in Israel at the time, I do not know. Did they even see them as signs, I do not know that either.

There are supposed to be two blood moons this year (2014) and then two again next year which is a bit odd considering there hasn’t been four blood red moons occurring together since 1967 and the following year in 1968. Including the blood moons in 2014 and 2015 there will have only been 13 tetrads in the last 500 years.  Two of those have previously come at the time of the feast’s designated by Yahwey. Many people think of the holy days as the feasts of the Jews but Yahwey says differently.  He told Moses, “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Adonai, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are My feasts.” ~ Leviticus 23:2

We know from the scriptures that the lights in the heavens are to be for signs and for seasons. Genesis 1:14-15 ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Seasons in Hebrew is mow`ed meaning a festival, an assembly, an appointed time.

Three times in the year all the males were commanded to appear before Yahwey. To learn about when Yahwey [God] set up certain festivals that He expected His children to attend at an appointed time,  they are the weekly Sabbath, The Feast of Unleavened Bread, Passover, Feast of Weeks, which became known later as Penticost, Feast of Ingathering or Feast of Harvest at the end of the year also known as Feast of Tabernacles. [Exodus 34, Deuteronomy 16 and Leviticus 23]

The two blood moons that are supposed to occur in 2014 are supposed to be on or near both Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. Even the word feast in Hebrew is chag, means a sacred assembly that stems from the word chagag, meaning a time of celebration. In 2015, the spring solar eclipse will take place on the first day of the new  year (Nisan 1) fourteen days before Passover, and the one in the fall will come on the first day of the civil year (Tishri 1) six months later, which is Rosh Hashanah, or otherwise known as the Feast of Trumpets.

In the Tankah {Old Testament} , the prophet Joel states, “The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.” ~ Joel 2:31

Yahushua said “Immediately ‘after’ the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light … And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:29-30)

Often when people read this text they think of some astronomical catastrophe but in reality, Yahushua could be discussing an occurrence such as an eclipse which doesn’t actually occur that often. But when we read the text, the sun goes dark at the same time that the moon does, so we really cannot be sure. Not to mention that the moon does not give any light of her own. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth passes between the Sun and the Moon where as a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. In a total solar eclipse all the sun’s light will be blocked and both the sun and the moon will appear to have turned black.

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it (Rev. 21:23-24).

From what I have learned is that at any given location a lunar eclipse can only happen at night while a solar eclipse can only happen during the day.  It seems unlikely that we would experience a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse at the same time, however we never want to say that this is impossible because  with Elohim, we know that all things are possible.

What we will be experiencing this year and next year in witnessing the four consecutive blood moons is a rare phenomenon known as a tetrad.  So far, during this century there have been six of these but what people are all hyped up about this time is because they will occur on the Holy Days which I think is pretty significant myself beings the lights in the heavens are for signs and seasons, in that these will be both a sign in the heaven during the seasons that both begin and end the Holy Days. A blood moon is total lunar eclipses but I think the more contaminated the atmosphere on the night of the eclipse, the ‘redder’ {If that is a word} the moon appears.

The last time the four consecutive four blood moons occurred on the Holy Days was way back in 1949 and 1950. If a blood moon were to fall on the Feast of Trumpets I might be a bit more excited because that would be something because that would be a first time ever having a full moon exposed on this feast.

The reason I say this is because the Feast of Trumpets begins at the first sighting of the new moon. In Matthew 24:36 when Yahushua was discussing the signs of His “coming, and of the end of the world, He said,  “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” When He (Yahushua) says you won’t know the day or the hour, He is telling His audience that it’s the Feast of Trumpets because that was known as the feast where no one knew the day or the hour that it would begin because it didn’t begin until the sighting of the new moon. His audience completely understood Him.

We also gotta remember when He said something similar in the parable of the virgins.  He said, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”,   He was speaking to the foolish virgins not the wise ones. Remember, the wise ones knew exactly what to do to prepare for the bridegroom. He has given us many signs to look for so it isn’t like it should be a huge surprise, that is unless people are not paying attention to the signs and the season’s;  His holy days.

The Feast of Trumpets is the holy day that begins the Fall Feasts of Adonai. I compare the Feast of Trumpets to Matthew 24:31  ~ And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The next consecutive holy day is Day of Atonement, which I think of as when our High Priest Yahushua will come out of the heavenly Sanctuary just like the High priest did on the Day of Atonement letting Israel know that her sin had been atoned for.

The next fall holy day is the Feast of Tabernacles.  I tend to think of this as the time when we will all be gathered together by the angels.

You can read about blood moons in the following text, Joel 2:31, Acts 2:20 (Peter basically quoting Joel), and Rev. 6:12. However, they all refer to the same event, which is a great earthquake that accompanies the opening of the 6th Seal (Rev. 6:12-17).

All we know for sure is that on the day of Pentecost, in Acts 2 starting in verse 14-21, Peter stands up to give a speech.  In that speech, ‘He says this: Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:  And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The point I’d like to focus on is that Peter declared that this prophecy written in Joel was fulfilled in his day. His words were, ‘But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel’. What did the day of Pentecost have to do with the blood moon? There were wonders in the sky and signs on the earth associated with Yahushua’s death and resurrection. There was an earth quake that day as well.

There is a good indication of a full solar eclipse with earthquakes and even numerous graves opening up surrounding His death and resurrection. With all that happened between those days and the days at hand in this passage, Peter may have been looking backwards at the crucifixion and the resurrection as well as what was happening on the day of Pentecost. I will take Peter’s word for it that the prophecy of Joel was fulfilled on this notable day when he declared, ‘But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel’.

Also the text does not reveal a series of blood moons prior to the return of Yahushua, so we have to be careful and of course be watching. I tend to think that somehow, the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory will be somehow unmistakable.

And we also must remember: Surely the sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.~ Amos 3:7

Personally I am not all that hyped up about these blood moons because I believe that the signs from heaven are supposed to tell us that things are about to happen, not that things already have happened. However, I will be observing the holy days and I will be watching to see what might happen as a result of these upcoming blood moons.  I have observed His holy days since 2005 so this year will be no different.

On a side note: If the Blood Moons of Sept. 2015 mark the beginning of Yahwey’s  reconciliation with Israel like some folks do suspect,  it would mean that Daniel’s 70th week will have begun.  In that case, the Battle of Ezekiel 38 will have already been fought.  I believe that Ezekiel’s battle is Israel’s call back into covenant with Him, which would be necessary for the 70th week  of Daniel to begin as is written in Ezekiel 39:22 when He will make His holy name known in the midst of His people, Israel.

We will have to see if there is a battle going on with the nation of Israel between now and then or a battle going on within the body of Israel. The “woman that is with child, clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet” that is described in Revelation is something we cannot discount, although the last time that we know of occurred was in five BC around the birth of Yahushua the Messiah, as was proved on the video “The Star of Bethlehem.

Another thing to consider is that there is a moon that becomes as blood when the sixth seal is opened. > Revelation 6:12-13 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

This is a clear indicator to everyone that this will occur in the middle of the day because the sun will be out and because of a great earthquake, the sun will become black and that evening the moon that shines will appear as blood and the stars will fall from the skies.

Now, according to Yahushua who was quoted by Matthew in chapter 24, (Vs 29) this will occur Immediately after the tribulation of those days

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

This is the day that I will be looking for more than any other day. It won’t be a random blood moon or even a set of them.  It will be a blood moon because of the great earthquake that will shake the entire world and everyone who is alive will know it.  Hallilu-Yah!
