Genesis 1:27

Genesis 1:27 ~ So God created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.

Ok, the word image is the used in both ancient and modern Hebrew as tselem, pronounced tseh’-lem to verbalize or convey picture or photograph. It is from an unused root meaning to shade; a phantom, illusion, resemblance; hence, a representative figure.

The word likeness is dmuwth, pronounced dem-ooth’ . It conveys resemblance; concretely, model, shape; adverbially, like:–fashion, like (-ness, as), manner, similitude. Dmuwth is from the primitive root word damah, pronounced daw-maw’, conveying to compare; by implication, to resemble, liken, consider:–compare, devise, (be) like(-n), mean, think, use similitude’s.

By His own design, man is made like Him, like God. A few times throughout the Bible, folks have been the recipient who has viewed His grace and have a struggle even trying to describe what they have seen. When Moses asked to see His glory, the skin of his face shone so brightly that the people they were afraid to come near him. Moses had to wear a covering. When Saul who was later given the name of Paul, saw His glory, his eyes were blind. When His Son Yahushua returns to earth to set up His kingdom on earth, the Bible tells us that the sheer glory of Him will destroy is emissary, Ha’satan.
