A single bomb devastates a city, and the world is ushered into the nuclear age. A split atom – power and force such as we had never seen. (Hiroshima)
At a launch site, rockets roar and a payload is thrust into space and man walks on the moon. Discoveries dreamed of for centuries are ours as we begin to explore the edge of the universe.
Volcanos, earthquakes, tidal waves, hurricanes, and tornados unleash uncontrollable, and unstoppable force. As some are able to avoid them and then help those who can not, pick up the pieces.
Power, strength, might – we stand in awe of the natural and man made display of such power. But none of these forces can touch the power of omnipotent God. Creator of the galaxies, atoms, and natural laws, the Sovereign Lord rules all there is and ever will be. How silly to live with out Him; how foolish to run and hide from Him; how ridiculous to disobey Him. But we do.
Since Eden, we have sought independence from His control, as though we are selves are some kind of god on our own and that we could control our own destiny. ~ Taken from The NIV Life Application Study Bible, Zondervan Publishers
And He, out of His magnificent love, has allowed man their own choice and their own rebellion to see how fast and furious they could try to our run His love.
Even in all of His word, when man would turn their back on Him and search for worldly things to satisfy a hunger, He would sweetly say,
“Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for He is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Instead of running for our life, we should be doing what He is calling us to do. Draw near to Him now, while there is still time. Give Him our heart. Move towards Him with fasting and weeping and mourning. Don’t tear our clothes in disgust with our selves, don’t ruin our bodies with this or that , but tear our hearts instead. He is full of mercy. He does have compassion upon us. If He didn’t, He wouldn’t have sent His one and only Son to stand in the gap and die for our transgression against His Torah.
1st John 3:4 ¶ Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
He is slow to anger, if He wasn’t, He would have completely destroyed the earth by now and everything that lives in and upon it. It is because He loves that we still hear Him calling. It is the enemy who comes to steal our identity through drugs and alcohol in excess. It is the enemy who comes to kill our hope and it is the enemy who comes to destroy our dreams. But it is Yahushua who came to give us life and life more abundant beyond what we could ever hope for or imagine.
Woven into His message of judgment that we will all one day face is the need for repentance which is still an affirmation of His kindness and the blessings He promises for all who follow Him. In fact, one of His promises is that ANYONE who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved (Joel 2:32)
Catch the vision as you read through His word, of the power and might of God and of God’s ultimate judgment of sin. Choose to obey, and worship God alone as your sovereign Lord.
Choose LIFE! And life more abundant. ETERNAL LIFE
