The Blood Atonement by Eudora

Other titles would be: Dawm Kaphar/  Yom Kippur (Day of Covering)

Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Kaphar, (kaw-far’) a primitive root; to cover (specifically with bitumen); figuratively, to expiate or condone, to placate or cancel:– appease, make (an atonement, cleanse, disannul, forgive, be merciful, pacify, pardon, purge (away), put off, (make) reconcile (-liation).

Leviticus 23:26-28 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.

On the Day of Atonement, the priest would wash his whole body. Next he puts on a simple white linen garment. Next he will carry the bulls blood into the holy of holies and pour it over the ark of the covenant for his own sins and then he will take the blood of the goat and pour it over the alter for the whole nation. After he does this then he will lay his hands pm another goat and confess the sins of Israel and this goat is taken away.

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Just like the innocent bull and the goat that died for the sins of the priest and Israel, Jesus died in our place for the sin of all who would call upon the name of God. The greatest need of every human is to be forgiven. Without forgiveness of sin, we would die in our sin. This day is about forgiveness. Because of this decision we don’t evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong. Since we know that life us in the blood, it is the blood, the life, that makes atonement, Blood provides the new life because it covers sin.

God has settled the relationship between us and Him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God has given the world an opportunity to be right with Himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins.

2nd Corinthians 5:21: He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

God put all the wrong on Yahushua, who never did anything wrong, so that we could be put right with God.

John 3:36: He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Whoever accepts and trusts the Son is promised life complete and forever! Whoever avoids or distrusts the Son is in the dark and doesn’t see life and may not know of the opportunity of eternal life through forgiveness.

John 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.

We live in terms of what we see and touch. God lives on other terms. If folks won’t believe that He is Who He says that He is, they are like being at the end of a dead end road with no way out because they are living on their own terms heading in a different direction.

Romans 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

It is a fearful and infinitely terrifying thing to face God’s judgment without forgiveness. What we know; impacts the way we view our life, decisions, and priorities. The only way to know we’re in Him, is if we keep His Commandments, such as keeping this appointment with Him every year as commanded too, We love Him and honor Him in thankfulness for the perfect plan of redemption. He served as a sacrifice for our sins, He solved the sin problem for good—not only ours, but the whole world’s.
